Marlon Bolaños - Gesha Washed
Marlon Bolaños is a young and inspired coffee producer; transforming coffee on his family farm from an economic necessity to a refined and flourishing project that I am proud to support.
Early in his life, Marlon enrolled in coffee courses at SENA where he learned green coffee evaluation, sensory skills and he developed a new vision for what coffee on La Loma could be.
Marlon now calls his project The Three Coffee Farmers, after his two brothers and himself, who run the farm together. For the past several years, they’ve been cultivating higher quality varietals like gesha, Sidra, chiroso, and pink bourbon. Marlon also retooled their processing methods, employing some of the most meticulous and sophisticated methods I’ve seen.
We taste:
Bright and intense white florals like jasmine are complimented with rich sweetness of raw sugar. On the palate, intense earl grey tea is complimented with a juicy mango and nectarine flavor supported by a coconut water silkiness. As the cup cools, the flavor profile is persistent with sweeter tones of honey, complimented by richer florals like yellow roses, red tea and heavier dried papaya tones.
